Sculptures From the Wimbledon College of Art Final Year Show, July 2011

The sculptures show the outcome of my journey through Ghana culminating the change in my life that took place from the Ghanaian person I met; the blurring of Art and life being the main theme and what was steering the work and still does now. The gathering of found materials and found objects then being constructed into assemblage type works has being a process of creating that has been a continual source of exploration through a lot of Fine Art Practice, and continues here. This is very much influenced by today's western consumer and material culture, in the sense that the cultures are constructed for artificial spectacle and merging towards a material apocalypse. The sculptures become more of a play, exploration and almost comical parody of this cultural state rather than an activist protest.

The same style and process of working and theme has been used here, however with the most of the materials being gathered in Ghana during the journey of soaking up it's culture. There now appears a playful juxtaposition between between todays consumer and material culture and the vast tropical culture of Ghana with it's economic growth.
